Your 2025 Negotiating Committee is pleased to share the outcome of the recent interest arbitration decision regarding the renewal of the Sheet Metal ICI Agreement.
This round of negotiations was demanding, but your leadership stood strong and advocated vigorously on your behalf.
Since July the Negotiating Committee and its team of lawyers and economists have been thoroughly preparing legal submissions and presentations for arbitration. On September 12th and October 7th, we appeared before Arbitrator Bernard Fishbein to argue for a fair wage and overtime on pension and benefits.
On October 14, 2025, Arbitrator Fishbein released his final and binding decision.
Key outcomes include:
1. Pension Contributions – Hours Earned for all Appendices
Commencing April 30, 2028, pension contributions will be calculated based on hours earned for all members working in ICI Sheet Metal including Appendix “A” Sheeting and Decking and Appendix “P” –Test and Balance.
2. Provincial Wage Increases
A total increase of $5.65 over the three-year agreement was awarded:
Retroactive to May 4, 2025 $2.00 Effective May 3, 2026 $1.90 Effective May 2, 2027 $1.75
3. Regional Allowance – Local 30
Local 30 was very successful in securing the largest increase ever to its regional allowance:
GTA and Barrie $1.80 for 2025-2028
Peterborough $0.75 for 2025-2028
Moving Forward Together
While the awarded provincial wage increase was less than we had hoped, we are satisfied with the strong case we presented, and the progress made – especially on successfully gaining hours earned on pension contributions. These gains are a testament to the strength of our collective voice.
Your Negotiating Committee is now working with representatives of the Ontario Sheet Metal Contractors Association to implement the changes and ensure retroactive pay is processed appropriately.
