Mississauga – Your Negotiating Committee met with the Ontario Sheet Metal Contractors’ Association (OSMCA) again today, Thursday May 8, 2025. Unfortunately, we made very limited progress on any of the outstanding matters.
With the assistance of the Minister of Labour’s appointed Conciliation Officer (a Mediator) we have agreed to meet with representatives of OSMCA on Thursday May 15, 2025 in one last effort to avoid being forced on strike. The major issue remains getting a fair wage increase that includes pension and benefits on all overtime hours.
Your Negotiating Committee is working over the next week to finalize proposals and responses to OSMCA proposals to reach a reasonable settlement. However we are not optimistic that we will be successful in reaching a fair deal. Our members should be prepared for the likelihood of a strike should negotiations on May 15, 2025 be unsuccessful. Once we have further information we will notify all of our members right away.
UNTIL THEN PLEASE CONTINUE TO REPORT TO WORK AS SCHEDULED.
As more information becomes available we will provide further updates.
Please return to this webpage or your Local’s website and/or social media for all future updates.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
In Solidarity
