RESULTS OF STRIKE VOTE – ROOFING ICI BARGAINING UPDATE

Notice to all members of Sheet Metal Workers International Association employed in ICI Roofing in the Province of Ontario

Mississauga – Your Roofing Negotiating Committee and your Ontario elected leadership are writing to provide the most recent update to Roofing Negotiations and the results of the Strike Vote.

The Ontario Sheet Metal Workers’ and Roofers’ Conference has counted the ballots from the Strike Votes held throughout Ontario during the past 2 weeks.  Our members voted over 92% to pursue a strike action in the event negotiations do not result in a Ratified Collective Agreement.

Your Roofing Negotiating Committee heard loud and clear that our members require the following from negotiations:

  • Reduce the Daily and Weekly hours of work
  • Generate hours earned in overtime for pension and benefits; and
  • Generate fair increase to our wage package.

Your Roofing Negotiating Committee is returning to negotiations with OIRCA, and a government appointed mediator, on Monday May 26 and Tuesday May 27.  In the event that we are unable to negotiate a Tentative Agreement we will provide further updates after May 27.

It is important that all members are aware that strike action may be necessary to get the best deal possible.  If strike action is necessary it would commence during the week of June 15, 2025.  Until then please report to work as scheduled.

Please return to this webpage or your Local’s website and/or social media for all future updates.

In Solidarity,

Your Roofing Negotiating Committee.
