Notice to all members of Sheet Metal Workers International Association employed in ICI Sheet Metal in the Province of Ontario
On behalf of the Sheet Metal Negotiating Committee and your elected leadership in Ontario we are writing to provide an update to the 2022 Sheet Metal Negotiations.
Your Negotiating Committee has met with various representatives from the Sheet Metal Contractors’ Association over the past few months in order to negotiate a renewal to the Sheet Metal ICI Collective Agreement. These discussions have largely focused on local union issues that are important to our members. We remain committed to negotiating necessary and fair cost of living increases to the Zone, Travel and Board Allowances and are optimistic the Contractors’ Association will ultimately agree to these cost of living adjustments.
The Negotiating Committee met with the Contractors’ Association over several days in March and April to address improvements to the Collective Agreement and settle outstanding matters in Siding and Decking under Appendix “A” and Air Balancing. These negotiations went well and have largely addressed both Union and Contractors’ concerns. However, there is still significant work that must be completed before we can exchange proposals for cost of living adjustments and a fair increase in wages.
The Negotiating Committee is scheduled to return to the bargaining table as early as Monday April 18th and we are prepared to continue negotiating every day until we have a tentative agreement that we can recommend to our members.
As more information becomes available we will provide further updates.
Please return to this webpage or your Local’s website and/or social media for all future updates.
And please contact your Business Manager and Representatives directly if you have any questions.
In Solidarity,
2022 Sheet Metal Negotiating Committee
