Sheet Metal Negotiations Update – May 30, 2022

NOTICE TO ALL MEMBERS IN ICI SHEET METAL

May 30, 2022

Mississauga, ON –       Your Negotiating Committee met briefly with representatives of the Sheet Metal Contractors’ Association on Monday May 30, 2022, and the designated Ministry of Labour Conciliation Officer (Government Appointed Mediator). The Contractors’ Association is considering the most recent offer from your Negotiating Committee. However, the Contractors’ Association is unable to meet with the Union’s Negotiating Committee again until Friday June 3, 2022, at the earliest.  We are hopeful that a Tentative Agreement can be reached on Friday June 3, but the Union Negotiating Committee has committed to being available to meet with the Contractors’ Association throughout the weekend in order to get a deal reached.

Your Local Union is scheduling Strike Votes for this week. We need every member working in ICI Sheet Metal to vote for strike action to get the best deal possible.  A deal that keeps us level with comparable trades.

With your support for a possible strike action the Union Negotiating Committee has the influence to ensure we can finalize the new Tentative Agreement. We are very close to getting an agreement that members will support. But we are not there yet.  We need the members to vote yes to a strike so that we get a deal now.

Please look to your local union’s websites and social media pages for the specific information on time and location of strike votes.

Please return to this webpage or your Local’s website and/or social media for all future updates.

In Solidarity,

Sheet Metal Negotiating Committee.
