NOTICE TO ALL MEMBERS CURRENTLY EMPLOYED IN ICI SHEET METAL
Mississauga, ON – As you are aware the Sheet Metal ICI Collective Agreement expires on April 30th, 2025. Your Negotiating Committee has met several times with the Ontario Sheet Metal Contractors’ Association (OSMCA) to negotiate revised terms for the Sheet Metal ICI Collective Agreement.
Your Negotiating Committee is now seeking a strong strike mandate for all members currently working under the Sheet Metal ICI Collective Agreement. While progress has been made on some issues, we remain far apart on hours earned in overtime for pension and benefits, protecting our hiring halls and a fair wage package.
Your Local Union is scheduling Strike Votes between March 24th and April 6th, 2025. Please look to your local union’s websites and social media pages for the specific information on time and location of the Sheet Metal ICI strike votes.
Some members have been requesting clarifications of eligibility for participating in the strike vote. By law (see https://canlii.ca/t/2w1#sec165) only individuals employed in ICI Sheet Metal or on the sheet metal hiring hall/unemployed lists are eligible to participate in the Sheet Metal ICI Strike Vote.
You cannot participate in any way during the Sheet Metal strike vote if you are:
- An Owner Member.
- Employed under a Production, Residential or the EPSCA Collective Agreements.
- A General Foreman/Supervisor (Excluded under Sheet Metal ICI Bargaining Unit).
- Employed under the Roofing Agreement.
- A Retiree.
We encourage eligible members to participate in this important process.
